Volunteers are the lifeblood of any local club or institution and we are no different here at Biggleswade United.
The simple fact is we really do need your support if this club is to grow and prosper in the community, as we would like it to.
We have come a long way since we started our campaign to build something really special at Second Meadow and in just over a year we have gone from strength to strength with the eyes of much of the world focused upon us.
The worldwide publicity we have received has obviously been greatly helped by the partnerships we have established with computer game giants like Nordeus, the creator of Top Eleven, the most extensively played football management game in the world, as well as sportswear company, adidas.
A Youtube broadcast from the recent award winning company Copa 90 filmed at the club attracted a mind-bogglingly huge audience of more than half a million, and our little club has featured all over the world in places as diverse as Spain, Finland and Brazil, to name but three.
But conquering the world has been easy compared to trying to get the message out there to our own community and we now need more local people to spread the word on their own doorstep; more involvement from the very community that we are representing.
Firstly we need volunteers who can come along on match days and help us with things like selling merchandise, on the gate, or perhaps even in the bar or the cafeteria.
Secondly we are looking for someone, perhaps someone like a local PE teacher, that can represent us by going to local schools, link with them and the club and explain what we are about, perhaps even with a view to offering some after-school free coaching sessions from our UEFA qualified coaches.
Our message isn’t getting out there and we need to make sure that it does.
On the plus side, there are more people coming to games (gates are up 75% on last season) and there are more bookings for the clubhouse that can be hired for any number of private functions than ever before, but we still need more.
And finally what we need is to hear from you; tell us what you want from your club and how we can build it together.
This weekend (Sat) we travel to Harefield United for a league match while our development side are at home to North Greenford United kick off 3pm.
